Where do I find friends?

My friend Jake showed me his first four leaf clover. ‘I stopped on the sidewalk and a sun beam was shining right on it. The first one I’ve ever found in my life.’

‘I bet if you stayed and looked, you’d have found three or four more,’ I said. ‘Four leaf clovers are a mutation, and mutations cluster. Some patches will have none, and you look for hours and nothing. But when you eventually find one in another patch, look around the one you found, and there are always more right there.’

‘Mutations cluster,’ he said again, savoring the idea.
